Sue Huntbach (Manager)
Hi my name is Sue Huntbach. I have been involved with the Pre-School since it began in 1984. I helped to set the group up as a committee member and within 12 months I became Deputy Supervisor. I am now the Manager and EYP (Early Years Professional). In order for me to achieve EYP Status I had to obtain a Foundation Degree, followed by a BA and then a further 18 months study to gain EYP Status.
I live in Helsby with my Husband and have two married children. My son Matthew and his wife Gemma who have given us a beautiful grandson Jack also live in Helsby. My daughter Rachel and her husband Paul, and their beautiful boys called Elijah, Jonah and Isaac, live in Guildford in Surrey. Both my children have fond memories of their time at Horn’s Mill Pre-School and then followed by Horn’s Mill Primary School.
I feel very proud to be part of such a wonderful team here at Horn’s Mill and enjoy every aspect of my job, but particularly helping our children learn through their play and achieve their full potential.
Sarah Crank (Deputy Manager)
My name is Sarah Crank. I gained my NNEB qualification in 1995, where I chose to go and work in Private Day Nurseries until January 2007 when I joined the warm, friendly team of staff and children at Horn’s Mill Pre-School. I am currently the Deputy Supervisor.
I am married with two children; Robert and Anna who both attended the Pre-School, Anna now attends Horn’s Mill Primary School, and Robert is at Helsby High School. Since starting at Horn’s Mill Pre-School, I have attended several courses and continue to attend training. This enables the Pre-School to be constantly making changes and developing our standards and care. Therefore achieving our Outstanding OFSTED report.
My name is Sue Clift. I have worked at Horn’s Mill Pre-school since April 2008. I am qualified to Level 3 in Child Care Learning and Development. I also hold a certificate in Paediatric First Aid and Food Hygiene.
I am married to Steve. We have two fantastic children called Amy and Lucy, who both attended the Pre-School and Horn’s Mill Primary School, and Amy now attends Helsby High School.
I thoroughly enjoy my job. Working with young children is a privilege and a pleasure – to see them flourish and gain confidence and also gain new skills is truly wonderful. I feel very proud when I know I have helped a child to gain a particular skill – it is very rewarding. All the staff get on very well together and we work very well as a team. I was extremely proud to be part of this successful team when we gained an Outstanding report from Ofsted in 2009.
My name is Rachel McKeever. I have worked at Horn’s Mill Pre-School since March 2007. I am qualified to Level 3 in Child Care Learning and Development. I also hold First Aid and Food Hygiene Certificates.
I am married to Chris. We have four fantastic children called Hannah, Harrison, Harvey and Louie, who all attended Pre-School. The boys now attend Horn’s Mill Primary School, and Hannah attends Helsby High School.
I love children and it’s been my ambition in life to gain a career working in a child care environment.
My name is Katie Treadwell. I started at Horn’s Mill Pre-School in September 2010. I have obtained the Food and Hygiene certificate which enables me to prepare light teas for the children in the after school club. I also hold a First Aid Certificate.
I have a degree in Photography with Graphic Design from Chester University, and I am a Level 2 Childcare Practitioner. I really enjoy my job at Horn’s Mill Pre-School as I get on really well with all the staff.
My name is Lynn Maddock. I started at Horn’s Mill Pre-School in October 2007. I am qualified to Level 3 in Child Care and I’m also qualified in Paediatric First Aid, Food and Hygiene and Makaton (sign).
I am married to Rod and have two lovely boys Luke and Matthew, who both attended Horn’s Mill Pre-School.
I love my work at the Pre-School and feel as if I have missed out on something if I ever have a day off! We are a fantastic team and this reflects on our setting and happiness of our staff and children. No two days are the same as the children initiate what activities we carry out. I love to see how the children grow and progress throughout their time here with us and feel that I am privileged to be part of it.
My name is Helen Hogan. I have worked at Horn’s Mill Pre-School since March 2006 and before that at Ince Under Fives Pre-School in Elton for about 7 years. I have a Level 3 Childcare, Learning and Development qualification and further training in Paediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene, Safeguarding for Children and Basic Makaton (signing with language).
I am married to Ian with three children called Beth, Myriam and Max. They have all attended Horn’s Mill Primary School.
Before I had children I worked for many years in local government, but getting involved in the childcare profession through helping when my youngest started Mums and Tots has been the best thing ever for me. I love working with the children, seeing them learn and discover through their play and watching their delight in everyday life and events. I enjoy working here as all the staff are friendly, approachable and get on well together.
My name is Lara Hodson and I live in Dunham on the Hill with my two sons, Ryan who is 16 and Theo who is 7.
I have a level 3 CCLD qualification and working towards level 3 STALS.
I lived and worked in Cyprus for 6 ½ years where I was the manager of a childcare setting, then moved to Australia to continue with my professional development. I am a qualified assessor, and hold a Leadership and Management qualification. Since moving back to the UK I have joined Horn’s Mill Pre-School and feel very happy to be part of a great team.
My name is Liz Turnock. I gained my NNEB qualification in 1990 and went on to work in Private Day Care for 10 years, working my way up to Deputy Manager.
I live locally with my two teenage daughters, Abbie and Mia, who currently attend Helsby High School.
I took a career break from Childcare after I had Abbie and started work in a craft shop where I designed and made handmade cards and wedding stationery. And although I loved it, childcare is my passion and I’m excited to be returning to it and joining the wonderful team here at Horn’s Mill Pre-School whilst continuing my professional development in this area.
I am looking forward to bringing my creative side to the pre-school and helping build on the fantastic work here by continuing to develop the fun, exciting and inspiring environment in which the children play and learn.
My name is Catherine Holland. I started working at Horn’s Mill Pre-School in June 2018. Previous to this, I was an OFSTED registered childminder for 5 years. I have also been the deputy manager of a local pre-school and a teaching assistant in a primary school.
I enjoy working with children and watching them learn, and enjoy a variety of different experiences.
I live with my partner, Darren and our 3 children – Jack, Robert and Grace. The children are all very active and love playing football, going to the gym and horse riding. If I’m not on the side line at the weekend I will be on the show field, but I love it.
My name is Amy Clift. I started working at Horn’s Mill Pre-School in September 2017, helping to run the After-school Club. I am now in the process of completing an apprenticeship at Horn’s Mill Pre-School. It is an exciting opportunity for me to be working here, as I came to this pre-school and I love working with the team. I enjoy caring for the children and watching them learn through play.
I have a gained certificates in Food Hygiene, Safeguarding and Paediatric First Aid and I am also working towards a Level 3 in Childcare.
Outside of work, I am part of a dance school in Helsby. I have been a student of this school for 14 years and thoroughly enjoy performing in the shows that I take part in.
My name is Jackie and I have been working at Horn’s Mill Pre-School since November 2017. I am very much enjoying working with a great team.
I have a Level 2 certificate in Childcare, as well as Pediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene and Safeguarding certificates.
Previously, I worked at another setting for six years. I love working with children, and being part of their learning and watching them grow.
I have two daughters, aged 14 and 17, and we love to compete our ponies, travelling to shows during the summer months.
My name is Tracy Nicholls. I am married and have 2 children, and have lived in Helsby for 23 years. I recently joined the team at Horn’s Mill Pre-School, and I love working with the children and staff here.
My main role is providing snack for the children, but I also do phonics and art with them. I have my Food Hygiene and Safeguarding certificates, and NNEB.
I have previously worked in a variety of schools as a TA for the last 25 years, with a break to have my 2 children.
In my spare time I enjoy walking my puppy and going away for weekend holidays.
