Horn’s Mill Pre-School was founded in 1984 and Sue Huntbach has been involved with the pre-school since it started. It has since gone from strength to strength and with ever increasing numbers due to the introduction of lunch club in 2007 and then the introduction of before and after school club in 2010. Find out more about our wonderful staff here.

The pre-school is held in our mobile classroom, which is situated in the grounds of Horn’s Mill Primary School. We are independent of the school, but enjoy a good working relationship.  The classroom is heated and brightly decorated with its own facilities, i.e. children’s toilets, staff washroom (including nappy changing station) and kitchen.  We also have an office area which allows a quiet space where staff can talk to parents confidentially.  The main area used by the children is one large room, which offers complete observation and supervision.

We are thrilled to be able to offer the same high care that we always have in our new larger mobile classroom. It further solidifies our strong connection with Hornsmill Primary School, and we look forward to continuing to provide our children with an excellent standard of play and education for the future.

Our new outside space is an area that we are particularly excited about. It is a work in progress but we have a wonderful blank slate now to build on and we hope to be able to develop it as soon as we are able to fund it. It is mostly covered with astroturf for play in all weathers, with a soft rubber area. We love to use our outside space as often as we can, using it to enhance our personal, social and communication skills among our children. We also have the use of the school playing field and the woodland area. We supply the children with all-in-one waterproof outfits and wellington boots, which allows the children to access all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum in all weathers and the winter months.

We encourage any prospective or new parents to accompany their children in visits to the pre-school so that both child and guardian can experience the fun, nuturing atmosphere and see first-hand the excellent standard of childcare provided.
